Rain Delays Harvest Across Cheyenne County Wheatfields

Scattered Thursday showers stalled Cheyenne County wheat cutting with some areas two faced by heavy rain delaying work until Saturday. Elevators report yields around 35 to 40 bushels per acre countywide, Lodgepole records 20 to beyond 50 bushels with test weights near 60 pounds. Protein runs 8 to 11 percent, averaging about 10.1, and moisture requests prompt farmers to wait for moisture, as Dalton and other areas log two-thirds completion before the delay.
