Wheat prices unlikely to improve says Nebraska economist
University of Nebraska Extension economist Dr. Everett E. Peterson says with the 1969 wheat crop already harvested in parts of Nebraska and a bumper crop overall, prices are not expected to rise in coming months. He notes record world supply, higher carryover, and a projected 1968-69 world trade dip, with U.S. exports down and domestic use shifting toward feed. Carryover is likely to grow by July 1, 1970, potentially prompting acreage allotment cuts this fall.
