Sidney notes report brisk real estate activity with Union Pacific lands being sold to eastern buyers for settlement here. Numerous residents and visitors stop through for business, including speculators from Iowa and Nebraska. Several local projects advance such as cement walks, while farms near Potter and areas north of Sidney see large land transfers to a Minnesota colony.
Most teachers spend a profitable summer at colleges and universities across the region. Several staff members attend Drake University in Des Moines, the State University at Lincoln, Kearney Normal, Fremont Normal, North Platte Junior Normal, Portland coast institutions, and various Colorado sites. Others have returned from postgraduate work or summer programs in Wyoming, while some have not yet reported. The note highlights a strong desire for professional improvement among county teachers.
In honor of Miss Rita Clarke of Omaha guests including Miss Lucy Jones and Miss Hattie Radcliffe gathered for a six o'clock dinner Wednesday. Saturday July 15 witnessed the marriage of O. E. Swanson of Denver Colorado to Selma Leafdale of Leafdale Ned officiated by Rev. M. Leafdale father of the bride. Guests attended a supper and music followed. The couple will reside in Denver after brief festivities and best wishes are tendered for their long life together.
June 1905 dairy report from the Cheyenne county creamery at Sidney Nebraska shows an average fourteen patrons delivering 7,557 pounds of No 1 cream yielding 2,673.76 pounds butter fat paid by Beatrice Creamery Co. at 465.98 dollars. Chas S Anderson led June with 896 pounds of cream and 267.76 pounds butter fat earning 345.47 dollars from ten cows. The note urges more ranchers to join the dairy business as Beatrice Creamery Co. bids for more Cheyenne county cream.
Reports in Salt Lake City and Omaha say Union Pacific seriously considers full system double tracking from Omaha to Ogden about 1000 miles as early as possible. A leading contractor and an engineering official support the plan. Past policy favored gradual two rail sections to build toward a complete two track network amid rising traffic.
