Governor Norbert Tiemann voiced no objection to the Big Springs Interstate 80 interchange design. Western Nebraska residents questioned traffic diversion to Colorado, but state officials argued equal consideration for Wyoming traffic and that surveys show half favor Denver. The $1 million project near Big Springs will have contracts awarded later this year with possible Sidney directional signage.

Chamber Meet Admonishes Western Union Service

In a Tuesday morning Chamber of Commerce meeting, Western Union service was criticized as slower and less reliable since distance dialing appeared. The Sidney office operates at the Chamber building by day and at Guy's Sinclair on weekends. The board supports Western Union only if service improves, noting most business now is death notices and money orders. Ed Cole cited the Colorado University institute meetings as tremendous with strong Nebraska representation. The annual meeting and membership drive were postponed to early 1968 due to Centennial activities and the delay.
