A long list of local residents hosted, visited or traveling. J G McIntosh and family stayed with family in Sidney while relatives from North Platte Oklahoma City Oberlin and Denver visited. Funeral attendees from Bellflower and San Bernardino attended in Sidney.
Coming events list for Tuesday includes Junior Circle W S C at Mrs Davis 405 12th Ave and Evening Circle at Mrs Jervis 1104 Newton St. On Wednesday Rebekah Lodge meets in the S O F Hall with Girl Scout troop hosted by the Lodge at 7 pm and regular meeting at 8 pm. Thursday features Willing Workers Missionary meeting at the Christian Church parlors and Presbyterian Circle in church parlors.

Louis J. Kubista of Alliance Nebraska and Hazel Irene McIntyre of Alliance were issued a marriage license on July 14. James P. Delaney of Denver and Doris L. Kortman of Sidney received a license on July 14.
Captain John Silva and father in law W E Gilbert traveled to Denver on business with Mrs. Silva and Mrs. Gilbert joining for the weekend. The Gilberts will depart for Washington D C after a two week visit with their daughter. Rose Levy to Newark N J after father Hyman Sussman dies. Alfred Schmidt, ex Sioux officer, visited Katz home. Mrs James O Baker hosted a bridge session won by Mrs Keith Morris and Mrs William Mackintosh. Harold Katz and Maynard Green fished at Guernsey Wyoming. A J Bickhaus and son Tommy vacation at Sand Lake for three weeks. Erwin Rosso to spend three days in Denver visiting hospitalized husband at Fitzsimons. So Damsels to meet Tuesday in Barracks 20.
The Busy Body 4-H Club held its regular meeting on July 1 at the J. C. Peters home. Roll call noted two absentees. The lesson was read and discussed, and it was decided the next meeting would be at Legion Park.
Sidney tops Gurley 13 to 10 in a league contest as Williams limited Gurley to six hits while Sidney’s lineup produced ten. Beyer Schmidt and Rossmeyer led at the plate for the victors, with Ammerman and Miller adding two hits each. Minatare 18 Sidney 8 followed, with Severs going four for four for Sidney despite the loss. Sidney plans a postponed league game at Peetz Wednesday if conditions allow.
The Sidney softball season has been rain hampered but league games occurred. Results include Midwest defeating IGA Grocers 8 to 6, Pip's Liquor beating Stickney's 8 to 6, and Silver Dollar winning over Pip's 24 to 1. Out of league, Silver Dollar beat Chappell Legion 11 to 1 and Padroni 10 to 9.
July 15 notes show the meeting adjourned and the hostess served a very delightful lunch. Jerry Madden, Reporter.
North Platte held golfing leadership in a 1949 round robin, led by sub par 65 Ray Krieger and 66 Mike Varicak. Team scores show North Platte 70 percent, Scottsbluff 6442, Sterling 62, Alliance 59, Sidney 4314, with next match at Alliance on August 21. Notable Sidney low scorers included Jorgenson 76 and Babcock 78.
Clif Thurston and Rod MacAdam led in the senior speed event for small bore engines at Sterling on July 10 with speeds of 81 and 76.5 mph. Don Barker of Sidney took third in the large bore speed event at 60 mph as 20 contestants competed.
The Busy Body 4-H Club opened under president June with all members present at the Hawkins residence on June 17. Karl Madden and Bob Hawkins were designated as delegates to attend the Junior Fair Board meeting on June date.
The leader presented the lesson and it was discussed by all the members. Mrs Hawkins served a very delicious lunch.
