Kenneth Rapp Recovers From Tractor Accident
Kenneth Rapp, 21, was seriously injured when his tractor toppled on a borrow pit near his farmhouse. He was pinned under the machine for about an hour before his wife found him. he now lies in satisfactory condition with a fractured pelvis and serious head injury, treated at a local hospital.

He will complete his AM degree in August after attending Colorado State College of Education in Greeley this summer. He holds a BA and ABS from Kansas State Teachers College and has taught in Johnstown, Colorado, where seven buses operate. He served as a deck officer in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He is married with one son, George. The district bought Morris Gamble residence for a superintendent's house. the Baumunks plan to move in August.

Colonel Inspects Guard During Sidney Drill
Lt Col Joseph Dark of the Army Instruction department visited Company K 134th Infantry Nebraska National Guard during drill at Sidney City Auditorium for a quarterly check. Company K, the largest Western Nebraska unit and fourth in the state, plans to send 75 members to Fort Leonard Wood for a two week field training starting August 6. Sgt Jack Baker said the unit will depart at 10:30 am and parade through Illinois street to the depot.

Oil Fever Extends West Into Goshen County Wyoming
The Torrington Telegram reports oil fever has moved west along the North Platte into Goshen County. Gerald M. Noonan of Los Angeles and Edgar A. Neely of Beverly Hills leased 50,000 acres at about one dollar per acre and plan a well by late September to early October. They expect oil bearing sands at 3600 to 6000 feet, possibly 1800 feet, guided by Goshen dome as a top Wyoming prospect.
