Good Neighbors Help Clear Ommen Farm Land
About 4:30 a.m. Don Howerter woke Bob Ommen and organized 22 neighbors to clear 730 acres of dormant cropland in the South Divide. By 8:30 a.m. the crews arrived with 17 one-ways two chisels two cultivators and a double drill, finishing after six hours with a field ceremony as a twister passed nearby. The effort honored John Ommen and his wife Florence who died July 11.

ILIFF Over 2000 acres of sugar beets in Logan and Sedgwick counties were damaged by a hailstorm. Hardest hit areas include near Ovid and Sedgwick and north of Iliff. Western Assessors Urge Stable County Valuations in Reappraisal
