County Below Goal In Safe Savings Bonds
Cheyenne County residents purchased 460,431 dollars in Series E and H savings bonds during the Treasury Department drive. The county chairman, H Glenn Spearow, said this equaled 68.3 percent of the county goal for January through June. June sales reached 68,650 dollars. Nationwide June sales totaled 5,303,034 dollars, bringing Nebraska’s campaign to 42,980,389 dollars for the period. William H. Neal called the drive a success, noting June E bond sales were the highest in six years and the 25 to 200 dollar denominations led January-April sales for four years. The drive helped firm public awareness of savings bonds as defense participation.
