Cheyenne county assessor John Daugherty reports 1910 growth from 1909 with 50 534 acres cultivated up 9 979. Personal property value totals 1 385 150 and real estate 503 029 with combined value 2 188 179. Noted shifts include more cattle, more machinery, and rising prosperity despite higher prices.
The Sidney board of education met at the director's office Monday evening and organized with J G L McIntosh as moderator Leroy Martin as director and A K Reenlees as treasurer They discussed introducing domestic science and manual training and planned to expand space adding a large attic laboratory and converting the current laboratory into a domestic science hall The manual training department will be in the basement.
Leroy Martin announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for county attorney, an office he has held for two years. The community knows him well for steering the county through legal matters and observers expect strong support across the county.
The new dance pavilion at Kreuger's lake is to be dedicated tonight with a public dance featuring Vath's Orchestra. Sunday will mark the formal park opening with all day visitors welcome, a steady steam launch service, and a perpetual fishing pool attraction promising enjoyment for attendees.
Miss Maggie Kelley has been offered a position at the post office with an increased salary reflecting her proven qualities. She will serve the public with courtesy and faithful service and assumes her new duties in a few days.
The city suffered a water pump outage on Wednesday night for the second time in ten days and lights were off for three hours. Citizens worry what if a fire had occurred. A second pump should be installed at once or sooner. Donoboo Irrigation Company is building a teat plant seven miles west of town. More details to follow.

Omaha’s Mayor James Dahlman arrived by auto from the north on his Democratic bid for governor. A large crowd heard his address at the band stand as J J McIntosh introduced him. He spoke about anti county option removals of state capital and veto use while noting strong local support. Dahlman then traveled to Grasmere ranch and Kimball with John M Adante and wife.
The Methodist Ladies Aid asks townsfolk to donate items for the Christian Home at Council Bluffs Iowa. A box will be filled at the church parlors on Friday July 22. Donations include sheets pillow cases towels worn garments and clothing for all ages. If needed committee member Mrs Zinnicker will collect gifts or arrange pickup.
Report shows Sidney Base Ball Club finances for June 1910 with balance on hand 119. From games played 25 total wins 16 losses 3 ties 1. Expenditures include transportation 69, salaries 75, and board costs 15. Approved July 14, 1910 with treasurer H E Garey and manager C M Hadley.
Fort Morgan boys faced Sidney on the diamond and were shut out by Stevens who fanned ten with errorless support. Sidney scored five in the second, two in the third, and three in the eighth to lead 10 to 0.
In a tight contest Pettit powered a lone run in the second inning as Coloradoans edged closer to scoring. Visitors improved over Friday, threatening again before the eighth inning where a sharp hit beat the ball to third but failed to bring home a run. The game ended with the score 1 to 0 after a late rally never materialized.
The Dalton boys traveled Sunday to play and were defeated by Sidney in a 10 to 0 game. Furry starred with clever moves as Camoron and Gadd led the visitors while Sidney’s trained athletes outclassed them throughout the match.
The Sterling team will play Sidney Hove here Sunday at 1 30 in the afternoon to fit the Doeuver train schedule. The change from the usual hour is to accommodate the visitors, with game time set for 1 30 p m on Sunday July 17.
Roy C. Chambere of Cheyenne Wyoming married Miss Ethel Werts of Averell Iowa on Friday evening at the M E Parenage at 8 p m. The father of Miss Werts accompanied her to Sidney. The couple will reside in Alliance this summer.
The last Mothers meeting featured readings by Mrs Jason Lobb and Mrs Haskell, solos by Miss Abernathy Florence Merifield and the Jones sisters, a vocal duet by Mrs Gamblin and Ella Erickson, a poem by Mrs Haskell, and a 10 cent lunch. Proceeds support the Drinking Fountain fund with a 34.00 donation from the Junior League to the same cause. Hiram Harper, treasurer, announced the gift with a brief speech.
H. G. Miller and Thos. Hendricks drove into the city on Wednesday. The notice promotes Oberfelder Clothing Co offering a new spring line of clothing and footwear at popular prices.
