Double Parking Ban Shuts Down Sidney Route

Police Chief Sol Willis announced strict enforcement of a ban on double parking along Illinois street the Highway 30 route through Sidney Nebraska. State Engineer Tom Middieswart called the practice a bottleneck and ordered trucks unloading merchandise to use alleys while violators face legal action. Highway officials criticize Sidney and other towns until main routes can be diverted. Sidney officials were advised.

Karr Promoted to District Engineer in Omaha

Delno Karr long time equipment maintenance man in Sidney for AT&T is promoted to district engineer with headquarters in Omaha. Mrs Karr and their two children will join him there after his Friday departure. They will visit his parents in Council Bluffs while housing is arranged. Karr has led local Jaycees safety campaigns.

Wheat Fire Victims Have Relatives Here

Mrs. Dave Hendricks learned last weekend of the death of her uncle John Mekelburg and her nephew Albert Deinert of Yuma Colorado in a wheat field fire. The men were reportedly fighting a blaze when a wind shift trapped them, causing fatal burns before they could escape.

Fire siren to mark 1 PM time daily in city plan

City Manager Virgil Knowles announced the fire siren will sound at one o’clock every afternoon to mark time. No other time whistles will be used. Steam whistles will announce 8, 1, 5 and 10 o’clock times in coming months.

Dr. Herbert C. Q. Nelson begins dentistry practice in Sidney after University of Nebraska College of Dentistry graduation. He takes over Dr. M. E. Pettibone’s former offices at 828 10th Avenue above Waddell's Cafe and is a Sidney High School graduate with military service and multiple scholarships. Logan Buys Riverton Packing Plant and Relocates

H. R. Bud Logan owner of Logan's Market has purchased Riverton Packing Co. in Riverton Wyoming and will assume control this week. He plans to rename it Logan Packing Co. The plant serves central Wyoming as a wholesale operation. Mrs. Logan and children remain until the house sells.

Severe rain and gale like winds halted cutting across the southern Panhandles. Hail battered Kimball and Dix regions, with Cheyenne County fields damaged and about a quarter of the crop lost. Harvesting was paused Monday by clouds and muggy air, with some sun later and a plan to resume in a day or two.

Nebraska Wheat Guess Cut Despite Adverse Weather

The Department of Agriculture lowers Nebraska 1952 winter wheat forecast to 98 946 000 bushels from 4 302 000 acres with 23 bushels per acre due to the June heat and hail. Karl Ruttner Wounded in Korea with 17th RCT

Private Karl A. Ruttner was wounded on July 8 in Korea while serving with the 17th Regimental Combat Team during the hill assault. He sustained a forearm fracture serious leg injuries and cuts and expected transfer to a hospital in Japan. He wrote to his parents from APO 503 San Francisco with address details.

Rev Larson to be ordained at Pueblo church
