Schulz to reclaim Wyoming prisoner Settle next Tuesday
Cheyenne County Sheriff W. W. Schulz will meet Ralph Settle at the gate of Wyoming State Penitentiary Rawlins Tuesday to escort him into custody on a local charge after Settle’s release from the penitentiary. Settle, wanted since July 29, 1951, is accused of stealing a fire from Elmer Juedes at Lodgepole and has a long record including narcotics charges and larceny with prior arrests in Sidney in 1939 for merchandise theft from Powell Hardware.

Heavy Harvest Traffic Triggers Multiple Wrecks Near Sidney
Nebraska patrol reports a series of high damage accidents during harvest season near Sidney. A 1949 International semi driven by Clarence Chamness collided with a 1947 International tanker driven by Charles Stolp after a third unidentified vehicle fled the scene. Damages to the Stolp truck were about 200 dollars. no injuries. A 1950 Nash driven by Arthur Draper and a 1946 Plymouth driven by Martin Luoma collided near the LOD main gate, causing 150 and 300 dollars in damages respectively. No injuries. A 1949 Mercury coach, a 1950 Dodge propane truck, and a 1950 Ford coach were involved at highways 30 and 19. The Mercury followed a slow tractor and swung out of control. He leaves July 14 and will be replaced by Col Luther G Smoak from San Jacinto Ordnance Depot Houston. Smoak and family arrive early August. Attack Victim Recovering After Sidney Robbery

Grain Fires Across Cheyenne County Attacks Hit Harvest
In dry weather Sidney volunteers fought eight fire calls from Monday to Wednesday, with wheat and grass fires threatening large acreages. A major blaze at Morris Jessen farm near Lodgepole consumed about 100 acres before Lodgepole and neighbors stopped it. Sparks from a train burned about 60 acres of wheat west of Sidney.
