Over Two Hundred Crop Insurance Applications Filed in Cheyenne County
More than two hundred wheat insurance applications for the 1938 crop have been written in Cheyenne County. FDIC county supervisor James A. Sparks notes most come from Potter and Dalton where writers are stationed, with plans to expand to every town after harvest. The August 15 deadline is not expected to change. About half of local farmers may enroll, Sparks says, and if all Wheat growers enrolled, it would guarantee three fourths of a crop annually, aiding farmer prosperity. Equitable Life Insurance of Iowa has applied for farm-level coverage and will approve after checks. Some large resident and nonresident landowners are also pursuing the plan.
