Ogallala resident Art Wilson about 55 lost his left hand and arm above the elbow in a Union Pacific track incident east of Sidney Thursday morning. He was clearing debris from drainage ditches under the tracks when a drag line grabbed his arm. He was taken to a local hospital where doctors amputated up to halfway to the elbow. His parents once owned land where Sioux Ordnance Depot now stands, and his mother, still living in Sheridan, Indiana, urged him to observe Sidney’s modern look.
