Mechanic Injured After Fall From Hoisted Car

G. A. Bud Seimers, a Beckmann Motor Co mechanic, fell from the trunk of a car raised on a hoist. He sustained a broken arm and other injuries and was taken to Denver for arm surgery after the incident Yesterday afternoon he entered the trunk unaware the hoist had been raised.

Modest Decline in 1956 Tourist Traffic on Highway 30

Sidney motel operators gas station managers and cafe owners report a modest drop in tourist volume for 1956. Despite some nights near full occupancy, overall June fuel sales and cafe business are down, with many attributing the decline to the steel strike and stricter speed checks along Highway 30. Local business leaders warn the drop could worsen if Highway 30 is removed from Sidney.

Sidney Oberfelder 72 long time Sidney resident died Monday of a heart attack at his New York City home. Born 1884 in Sidney he attended Sidney High School. Funeral services were held yesterday in New York City. Survivors include his wife one son four sisters and two brothers with one brother Amshes having preceded him in 1955.

Sterling Woman Fined For Drinking And Driving

A Sterling woman, Mrs. Jewell Goff, was fined $100 and costs in Sidney Police Court for driving while intoxicated. She was arrested Monday night after an accident she could not recall details of, suffering a cut and with front-end car damage. She was ordered not to drive in Nebraska for six months by Judge Glenn Greenlee.

Five Year Old Tests Planned for Pre Kindergarten

Applications for the annual pre kindergarten tests for children not five by Oct. 15 may be obtained at the Sidney Junior High School office and must be filed by July 13. Date of the tests will be announced later.

Pickup Truck and Car Collide Near Colton Intersection

J R Muntz Dies Barber of Sidney at 67

John Richard Muntz 67 operator of Dick's Barber Shop in Sidney died at his home near the shop from a heart attack around 6 am. Funeral arrangements are pending. Survived by two daughters Mrs Len Johnson of Denver and Mrs Orville Damme of Wayne Neb two sons preceded in death including John Richard Muntz Jr who died in Scottsbluff last February. He had lived in Alliance and Scottsbluff before moving to Sidney.

Sidney City Council approved the annual fiscal estimate for the coming year with one change raising Fire Department funding to 750 to send members to conventions.
