Services For Mr Thornton Are Thursday
Funeral services for Clarence S. Thornton 75 will be held at 1 30 p m Thursday at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. He died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital after a period of ill health. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Fairmont Cemetery Denver. Memorials may go to the Heart Fund. He was born July 1 1895 in Oldrocky Arkansas and married Myrte Ivie January 1 1930 in Joplin Missouri. He lived in Plainville Kansas before moving to Sidney in 1950 and operated a local cafe then his own salad dressing business. Surviving are his widow two sons James Lee of Denver Ronald Dean of Arvada six grandchildren.

Joseph Avakian of San Bernardino California, aged 18, was sentenced to seven days in Kimball County Court after a guilty verdict for illegal possession of marijuana. Troopers stopped the vehicle Saturday for speeding. two companions escaped custody.

Sideswiping crash causes $300 damage to each car
A Sunday night sideswipe on Highway 385 alt near Gurley caused $300 damage to both vehicles with no injuries. State Trooper Ken State listed the drivers as Harry F. Jacox, 24, of Sidney, in a 1963 Oldsmobile, and Earl E. Bayne, 18, of Dalton, in a 1963 Ford, the incident occurring at 10:35 p.m.
