Raymond Breese is jailed in county custody on larceny charges after allegedly taking several articles from a farm belonging to F. D. Anderson and Peter Knoble. J. J. Thompson Dies Funeral Is Saturday
Joseph James Thompson 51 a Sidney resident for 18 years died at home after a long illness. He came from Galveston Texas and was a carpenter until his health failed. Praise Is Due Legion Men and Merchants Who Made 4th Celebration Successful
Congratulations to the American Legion and Sidney business men for a splendid Fourth of July celebration held there Wednesday. The event was well planned and managed with clean entertainment and no delays. Over 5,000 people visited, hundreds of out of town cars lined the business district, and all merchants reported excellent business. The parade, drills, and band concerts drew big crowds with no accidents, reflecting strong city cooperation and a wholesome day for residents of the region.

Bridge Straightening to Improve Approach on Country Club Road
Highway commissioner J W Billeter announced on short notice that work starts today to straighten the bridge approach on the country club road southwest of town by the Brewer place. The bridge will be lifted and realigned creating a direct entrance, with a longer fill and grade work. A temporary crossing will serve traffic during construction and motorists are urged to drive slowly. The project aims to reduce crash risk as several cars have left the road into the creek bed.

Eight Cheyenne county youths have been selected for civilian conservation camp and 12 more will be sent to Fort Robinson for examination this weekend. This will make a total of 20 youths from this county who will have the privilege of entering the camps and securing army training. The eight who were in the original selections are Walter R. Release Man Who Got Gas And Then Fled
Richard Van Landuyt of South Bend Indiana was arrested at Kim ball for skipping a gas bill at a Sidney garage. He was released Sunday after the complainant failed to file charges. He had borrowed a car from a South Bend Ford agency and was en route to Oregon when arrested. Arrangements were made for payment of the gas bill and the company did not press charges because it had loaned the car. Ralph Myers of the company returned with the car.
