Night mail planes pass over Sidney in first season flight
Night air mail planes relayed across the continent passed Sidney in the first season flights one eastbound from Cheyenne and one westbound from North Platte beacon lights on wings aided landing caretaker John T. McIntosh operated the large search light as ideal weather allowed the schedules to run on time. Postmaster Pindell announced rates for letters and parcels with special air stamps to be issued and a night service plan to be permanent at least for the summer with a five day trial proving successful.

Sidney golfers extended their undefeated season record by defeating Brush in Brush Colorado by 14 strokes after a first round deficit. Eighteen Sidney players traveled, with low scores by Blip Doran 83 Jay Closman 85 and Dr. Witham 85. Sidney has now beaten all members of the Nebraska Colorado golf association including Sterling Akron and Brush and will host Brush again before visiting Scottsbluff.

Sidney taxpayers may see school taxes fall by about 7900 and city taxes drop about 5900 after the boards estimate expenses for 1924 1925. The school board sets 45000 for 1924 25 down from 50000 23 24 and the city finance committee proposes 21300 for next year down from 27200.

Knights of Pythias from Cheyenne Denver Sidney and nearby towns held a Saturday night event at Hardy's hall with a 125 attendees including about 50 out of town guests. E P Orchestra from Cheyenne provided music and after dancing the group went to the Commercial cafe for lunch. The Cheyenne delegation led with many named members and couples attending.
