Nebraska Western College coach Bill Braunbeck confirms Gary Schwartz of St Patrick's, a 17-5 Irish star and 1 000 point career scorer, signed to join the NWC Cougars. Schwartz visited the Scottsbluff campus after a May trip and will receive a grant aid athletic scholarship. Todd Peterson of Torrington also signed.

The West Nebraska Sportsmen's Association will hold its next regular meeting on Monday July 12 at the Gering Eagles Hall. The date shift due to the Fourth of July holiday moves the meeting back one week. Reports from the state convention at North Platte will be heard and a meeting with the State Game Commission will occur. Coffee and rolls will be served after the meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
