Auto washed off canyon road as flood swept through
A car driven by Raymond F. Charles, 40, of Iliff Colorado, was swept off Pump Kin Creek canyon road during a flash flood. The car sank midstream with water waist deep and all five occupants escaped unharmed. They hiked to safety, and authorities planned to haul the vehicle out with a bulldozer after morning damage pegged at 800 dollars.

Oasis Oil Company of Libya struck oil in its first exploratory well No 1 Bahi in north central Libya about 75 miles south of the Gulf of Sirte. The discovery tested 75 barrels of 30 degree gravity sweet oil in 24 hours through a 13/32 inch bottom hole choke. The well is part of Concession No 32 on a 114 million acre block of Libya held by Oasis Oil The Ohio Oil Company Amerada Petroleum and Continental Oil hold undivided one third interests. J C Donnelly said the test is encouraging but commercial significance awaits further testing and drilling.
