Bee blamed as truck overturns near Bayard in one vehicle crash
A one vehicle accident seven miles east of Bayard was blamed on a bee that flew into the cab of Larry Cochran's J. C. Super Service tank truck. Cochran swatted the bee, the vehicle left the road and overturned on its top, leaving him with a bruised elbow.

Weekend Crashes Leave Child Injured and Several Wrecks Reported
A three and a half month old baby suffered severe injuries in a weekend crash east of Sidney. Randel James Whalen, son of Beverly Whalen of Green River Utah, was in fair condition with a broken leg, concussion and bruises. His mother was injured when her car, driven south on Highway 19 and east on Highway 30, collided with a westbound car driven by Clyde Q. Flinn of Van Nuys California. A large truck is reported to have blocked vision at the intersection. Total damage to both cars was about 1500 dollars. Safety officials consider adding a stop sign at the Highway 19 east access road intersection with Highway 30. In a separate incident, George Fehringer of Peetz collided with a cow on Highway 19 near Sidney. his car was damaged but the cow survived. There were three additional Friday damage accidents in Sidney, including two on 12th Ave at Elm St and one on 13th Ave at Illinois St. A two-car crash on Highway 30 west of Sidney caused about 130 dollars in damage.

Guy Summerfield Shaw 76 prominent Cheyenne County farmer and land owner died Saturday night at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral at 10:30 Tuesday First Methodist Church with Rev R L Townsend officiating. Greenwood Cemetery burial. He served as Cheyenne County Commissioner 12 years and helped start the Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Lorenzo 1918 later president 1922 10 years on the board until 1946. Potter Service Station Burglarized Again In Potter
