Grand Master Addresses Ancient Order of United Workmen

Jacob Jaskelek, Grand Master, spoke to a large audience at the AOUW temple on Tuesday evening in his first visit. He hailed 85 years of history, highlighted Nebraska’s per member costs since 1886, and noted 121 million dollars paid for beneficiary death certificates to widows and orphans. He urged support for the Degree of Honor and praised Nebraska’s 35,000 AOUW members with hopes to reach 40,000 before the next grand lodge session.

Firemen's Bail Ball Raises Funds for Firemen Gear

The Union Pacific fire brigade held its first annual ball at the opera house last Friday. About one hundred couples joined a grand 9 pm march led by Mr and Mrs Pot ter of the Pacific hotel. Supper by Nelson, orchestra by Prof Klein, and committees named. Net proceeds around 50 dollars to buy rubber coats boots and uniforms for the firemen, who will cooperate with the Sid ney department at all fires.
