In a separate matter the State v Duane Earl Pope was heard in Deuel County while an armed robbery occurred in Big Springs involving Robert D Thompson 22 of Kansas City after a Virgo's Tavern robbery Thompson was captured near Sidney and charged with stealing 35 to 50 dollars and whiskey. Thompson was jailed at Cheyenne County overnight before being moved to Deuel County custody. Virgil Waterman uncle of a 1965 Big Springs bank robbery victim described the tavern incident to police. A 1960 Chevrolet linked to the suspect was described and Thompson was stopped near Sidney by Troopers Ibach and Larsen. He offered no resistance and was taken into custody.
