Leases Renewed As Court Weighs School Land Sale
About 500 school land leases expiring January 1 were renewed for another year by the State Board of Educational Lands and Funds. Chairman John Cassel said the action keeps leases intact while the Nebraska Supreme Court reviews the constitutionality of the 1965 law requiring sale of lands as leases expire. If upheld, potential sales would move to the fall with possession next January 1.
