Former Sidney Resident Zelma Meenan Dies in California
Zelma Meenan 77, former Sidney resident, died Saturday night in a San Gabriel California hospital after years of declining health. Funeral and interment are set for Wednesday in San Gabriel. Born Zelina Bricker August 26 1892 in Cass County Missouri she married James Meenan in 1911 at Akron Colorado. She and her husband moved to Sidney in 1923 from Otis Colorado. Surviving are four daughters Bessie Tidy Mary Hlett Margaret Mee nan Lucille Sandahl two sons Edward and Jack a brother Shelby Bricker seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

F. J. Jennett Rites Set for Wednesday in Dalton
Francis J. Jennett 90 a longtime Dalton resident died Saturday at Memorial Rest Home after a month there. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Church with Rosary Monday at 7:30 p.m. Interment Dalton Cemetery. Jennett was born January 7, 1880 in Garfield Illinois later living in McCook Raymer Bridgeport and Dalton where he worked as bookkeeper for Bridgeport Lumber Co and Dalton Co-Op. He served as village clerk and on the Dalton school board and is survived by his wife four daughters two sons and 16 grandchildren.

Nebraska Oil Quest Gains 53 Percent In Year
Petroleum Information reports a 53.2 percent rise in Nebraska drilling last year led by Cretaceous Muddy sands in Sioux Dawes and Box Butte counties. Colorado Eastern region up 62.5 percent with 611 wells. West Slope up 4.7 percent with 157 wells. Nebrasa's gain largely due to the Cretaceous play in the northwestern counties.

At the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion buyers paid a top $48 for calves and $43.25 for 290 to 280 lb whiteface steers.
