Sidney Man Is Killed In Wyoming
Ambrose Carl McCann, 32, of Sidney, died after a gunman shot him in Glenda, Wyoming, following an argument with bar owners. The body was brought to Bidney for funeral services Thursday at 1:30 pm from Craig Mortuary, burial in Greenwood Cemetery. He was born November 7, 1916, in Sidney, attended Sidney High, coached football captain, earned teaching degree in 1940, served in the 164th Infantry from 1941 to 1945 with overseas duty in the Pacific, wounded on North Solomons and Guadalcanal, and discharged in 1945. Survived by mother Mrs. J. C. Proper, Sidney. stepfather. three sisters Doris Caples, Anna Belle Duncan, Sharon Proper. a brother Jack McCann. step-brother Jim Proper. father deceased 1923.

Rites Held For Brauer Child
Funeral services were held Saturday for Martha Elizabeth Brauer fourteenth month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Joan Brauer of the South Divide who died suddenly last Thursday while being taken to Sidney for medical care. Rites were at home and Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev Otto Wittig in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery. Martha Elizabeth born November 13 1947 had not been in good health recently. Survivors include her parents four brothers the eldest Milford in Minnesota and one sister Mrs Bernice Iverson of Cheyenne Wyoming.

As of January 1 Nebraska farmers had 44 million bushels of grain including wheat corn barley oats rye sorghums dry beans and soybeans under loans and purchase agreements with the state PMA The breakdown shows 19 134 loans on 17 5 million bushels totaling 96 5 million dollars while 8 380 000 bushels were covered by purchase agreements Perkins county led with 380 loans on 1 75 million bushels of wheat and 186 purchase agreements York county topped loans with 622 on 623 000 bushels Over 13 000 corn loans covered 15 75 million bushels plus a half million by purchase agreements Corn loans and purchase agreements run through June 30 likely setting an all time state record.

Ida Simms rites follow long illness in Sidney
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Gehrig Funeral Home for Ida Simms who died January 17 after a lengthy illness. Rev C B Johnson conducted, burial in Greenwood Cemetery. pallbearers named.
