Pipe Line Progress Reported Last Week
The Platte Pipe Line delivering Wyoming and western Nebraska oil to eastern refineries has reached Lingle Wyoming and will soon enter Nebraska Satur day. Eighty carloads of twenty inch pipe were unloaded at Mel beta Nebraska with more supplies expected at Bridgeport and Dalton. Construction runs east to west with the central Nebraska section the last laid and the line should be ready for operations next fall if no delays occur. It will pass Cheyenne County between Dalton and Gurley near much of the county's oil production.

Sidney delays liquor vote decision until February
The Sidney City Council will not address the liquor by the drink law until its February meeting after the Supreme Court ruled the city can have liquor by the drink. The two year delay began with the April 4, 1950 election and involved petitions with 198 signatures, challenged against 20 percent of last general election votes. The last general election figure used for signatures was 565 votes from a later municipal election, and the court upheld the election’s legality. The council must now review its entire liquor licensing program, including the number of drink permits, with a January 28 meeting moved to January 25 to avoid delays and further litigation. Rumors of additional delaying actions linger as drafts continue.
