Love Is Key to ESU Pre School Program in Sidney

Educational Service Unit 14 operates a unique preschool for four handicapped children in Sidney. Teacher Rosie Kerk leads individualized sessions with support from Diane Allison and Daryl Conger the hospital physical therapist. Speech therapy by Michaela Nelson runs daily. program stresses self help, motor skills, and sensory development in a cheerful safe setting to help each child progress toward regular schooling.

Nebraska college fund hike urged by state fiscal staff

Nebraska fiscal staff urged nearly 12 percent rise in higher education appropriations for fiscal 1975, lifting total general fund requests to about 260 million. University of Nebraska gets roughly 57.3 million, with state colleges and technical schools also seeing substantial boosts. Ben Vacik Killed In Highway Crash

Ben Vacik 74 a Sund-area farmer was killed this afternoon in a four vehicle crash on U S Highway 30 about five miles east of Sidney He was eastbound and collided with a westbound tractor trailer driven by Robert W Lauenstein of Bruning The crash also involved two women in another eastbound car who suffered minor injuries and were treated at Memorial Hospital The dead man was reported killed instantly and an obituary is planned for a later issue.

Sidney air projections revised after criticism

Sidney City Manager Ed Prince said a harsh letter to the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics prompted revised airline-use projections for Sidney. The updated numbers rise from 530 boardings in 1975 to 2,010 in 1975, 2,880 in 1980, and 5,940 in 1990, with 2,000 annual boardings targeted by 1990.
