Sidney criticizes Air Study data on local airline usage

City Manager Ed Prince charges Nebraska Aeronautics figures for Sidney are incorrect in a letter contesting the Air Transportation Requirements Study. Sidney Board Votes To Buy Replacement For Rural Bus

In a short meeting the Sidney Board of Education approved buying a replacement rural bus for 1974 75 at about 10000 and ordered bids to be drawn up. They also authorized two way radios for rural routes with base stations from sheriff police roads and highway patrol and denied a Prairie Schooners Square Dance Club request to use Central School Saturdays due to heating issues.

John Egging Receives Engineering Merit Award

John A Egging vice president of the Egging Co Gurley Nebraska received the Farm and Industrial Farm Equipment Institute engineering merit award at the ASAE annual meeting. Traffic Deaths Decline In This Area In 1973

State Patrol Sgt. Lee Anderson reported a regional drop in traffic fatalities in 1973 for the Southern Panhandle. Six deaths occurred in 1973, four in Cheyenne County and one each in Devel and Kimball counties, down from 14 in 1972. Across the Panhandle 30 deaths were reported, down from 42, with most on state highways. Patrol activity included 500 accidents investigated, 4,500 motorist assists, 7,800 warnings, 3,000 summonses, and 8,300 defect cards, plus 29 med material relays.

Higher Telephone Rates Take Effect in Nebraska

Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. customers in Nebraska see rate hikes of three to four percent effective today. The Nebraska Public Service Commission approved the increases to yield about 2.2 million dollars yearly, far short of the 6 million dollars initially sought. The rises also affect business trunks private line service mobile service and non recurring charges.
