The City of Sidney will invest about 75000 of excess funds in government securities rather than let the money sit idle. Prisoner Jumps From Sheriff Car In Dalto n Chase Recaptured
Kenneth Kurcez, 31, held in Cheyenne County Jail on vagrancy charge after being picked up in Dalton by Town Marshal Bob Ziegler. He escaped from a moving sheriff’s car about a mile north of Gurley, then hid in a field where deputies and a highway worker recaptured him. Kurcez injured his hand hitting the car door during the jump.

Burney urges Nebraska to drop radar trap policy
Lt Gov Dwight Burney told the Nebraska Sheriffs and Peace Officers Assn convention that radar traps should be abandoned and patrol cars kept on highways. He argued traps anger drivers and do not improve safety, citing belt law and driver education bills as evidence of legislative cooperation. Burney, the sole Republican gubernatorial candidate at the time, met party leaders in Sidney.

Sheriff W. W. Schulz reported three break ins in the county. Don and Lil's Grocery in Gurley had a broken front door and a cash register containing 51 cents stolen. Dalton Dee's Mobile Station yielded one dollar in pennies through a bathroom window. Dist 39 rural school northeast of Calton had broken glass and ransacked drawers but nothing appeared missing.

Deer Fatality West Of Potter On Highway 30
A deer was killed on Highway 30 two miles west of Potter at 10 10 p m Monday after an eastbound car driven by 18 year old Lyle Mulder of Sidney struck three crossing deer. Sgt Mel Buskist of the Highway Safety Patrol investigated the incident.
