Village Trustees OK Two Ordinances For Electric Lighting

The Board of Village Trustees passed two ordinances on the electric lighting system. Work to install poles and wiring will start next week. Duggin & Gates employ a crew at the power house, ready for machinery in about two weeks barring weather. Sidney Electric Service Co. franchise covers steam heating. Callahan to heat Mc Aleese block and fit modern steam systems in the Callahan block offices and stores for tenants.

Six Year Old Harper Davis Dies at Home Near Sidney

Harper Davis son of Rev and Mrs H Davis died at home two miles south of Sidney after months of diabetes. He was cared for by his grandfather Elder Slingluff. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev J S Leamer of the Lutheran Church and he was buried in the Dunkard cemetery. The family received sympathy from many friends.

Progressive High Five Night At Washburn Home

Friday evening at M. E. Washburn’s home in Harrisburg guests gathered for a progressive high five game hosted with Mrs. Charles Peterson. Miss Washburn and the Washburns with the Petersons welcomed attendees. The party featured pink and green décor and elaborate costumes. Eight tables hosted fifteen lively games, followed by a five course supper. Prize winners included Mrs. Radcliff for ladies first and Mrs. Knox among others.

County printing pact limits Cheyenne notices to legal rates

A 1904 agreement among Nebraska publishers binds them to print legal notices at full legal rates in Cheyenne County. Sidney Republican’s James McMullan, pledged to the pact, contracted with Cheyenne County Commissioners for 1905 for $125 annually to publish delinquent tax lists and Board of Commissioners notices, an estimated value of $1,000 at legal rates.

Sidney Republican Wins County Stationery Contract

On December 11, the Sidney Republican, pledged to an agreement by James McMullan, bid lower rates for county stationery and secured the 1905 printing contract from Cheyenne County Commissioners.

Washburn Place Hosts Create Formal Evening Farewell

The passage notes Mrs Lathrop and Mrs Washburn hosting an event at Washburn Place with Mr Peterson Mr Knox and Mr Greenlee. After expressions of good wishes darkness fell at two thirty, closing the scene at the Washburn home.

Also notes upcoming Buffalo Mystery play at Tobin Opera House January 17 with Adams leading the Della Pringle company.
