Warden Joe Ulrich reports about 25 000 ducks on the North Platte River this week with 12 000 in Morrill County and 350 geese. The total exceeds last year and any January counts, while Scotts Bluff County holds about 13 000 ducks.

St Patrick’s High School forward Dick McCoy earned a spot on the Grand Island Diocesan Tournament team at North Platte. He and Don Nelson led St Pat’s in a 57 52 loss to Chadron for third place as McCoy scored 18 and Nelson 18 with five fouls. Next game is January 20 against Oshkosh at home.
