Texas and Oklahoma money may boost area oil search

A Nebraska oil office spokesman says new operators from Texas and Oklahoma will spend heavily exploring in the Panhandle in 1970, focusing on the D and J sand areas around Cheyenne Kimball Banner Scotts Bluff Morrill counties. drilling activity rises with seven rigs in western Nebraska and a Morrill County discovery near Bridgeport producing about 529 barrels per day.

Approval Given AC and D Project For Planning Aid

Two men are jailed in Kimball County on auto theft charges after a vehicle stolen from Hertz Rental in Dallas was stopped by State Trooper Richard Larsen. Thomas M. Fiser of Wynne Arkansas and Richard T. Malczewski of Chicago were ticketed for theft and face forgery and mail theft investigations. In Washington Congressman Dave Martin announced final approval by the U S Department of Agriculture for the Nebraska Panhandle RC D project to plan and develop conservation and related programs across 11 western counties. The Soil and Water Conservation Service will administer the program which includes more than 200 separate projects and will provide technical assistance. The project area covers Cheyenne Stouk Scotts Bluff Banner Kimball Dawes Box Butte Morrill Sheridan Garden and Devel counties.

Colonels to Perform at Alliance Chamber Dinner

The Ft Sidney Colonels, a male singing group from Sidney, will headline the Alliance Chamber of Commerce dinner on January 14. Main speaker is Bill Burtness, an insurance director from Denver. State Health Seminar Here On Jan. 21st

The Legislative Council Committee on Health Problems will meet in Sidney at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel banquet room at 9 a.m. on Wednesday January 21 to study nursing education, psychiatric technician training and rural health care staffing and facilities. The session invites area residents and officials to attend and offer recommendations. Other Nebraska meetings follow in later dates. Mrs C B Dorwart handles local arrangements and the Nebraska Educational Television network will televise the proceedings.

Nebraska to Alter Soil and Water District Boundaries

The Nebraska Soil and Water Commission will consider changing district boundaries after a 1969 law required 25 to 50 districts. A task force recommends 28 districts based on stream basins, counties, and precincts, with hearings to follow. In Cheyenne Kimball Devel, Lodgepole would span 2 714 sq mi valuing 100.95 million and 16 500 people. Upper North Platte would cover 4 821 sq mi valued at 192.4 million and 44 200 people, including Scottsbluff Banner Morrill Garden White River Gering Plum Valley. Keith Lincoln would cover 2 016 sq mi valued at 89.5 million with 30 600 people.

High Wheat Land Price At Dalton Estate Sale

A half section of wheat land on the Dalton table ten miles east sold for 155 per acre at the Clara Clough estate sale on January 6. One quarter brought 152.50 and the other 157.50. Buyers Hopkins and Son and Robert Ernest are local large scale farmers. oil and gas rights accompanied the sale, though not a major factor amid regional drilling.
