Changing Officers and County Bond Dispute

Commissioners settle a bond dispute with Essig as new county officers take charge. Aug Neumann arrives as eastern district commissioner. Snodgrass becomes board chair. Sutherland to hand over books with ten days to bond. Richards, Neubauer, McIntosh, and Paine assume roles, and public notices detail a sheriff, coroner, and teacher appointments along with a Ladies Aid Society meeting and local deaths and travels.

Lodge Pole grows with south side shift and new depots

Lodges show brisk business with alivery feed stable under construction on the south side of the railroad in Ober felder's addition. Chas Cribbs and R J Cowdin build there as Mallory adds a business block. A fine Christmas and New Year, with a well attended depot dance, mark town social activity. School reports show 83 pupils with improvements sought in textbooks and district cooperation. The Lovce correspondent notes strong freight and passenger activity, carloads received and forwarded, and a planned handsome CP depot ready soon.

District Court Ends with Hang and Seven Year Sentences

The district court concluded with James Collins acquitted of manslaughter in the bridge shooting case while Crouchy received seven years for assault. Reynolds was sentenced to hang on May 21 after judge Hamer questioned his sanity and warned of a possible sanity trial.
