Government to open rest of depot for oil drilling near Sidney

The federal government plans to lease about 12 000 acres of the Sioux Army Depot site northwest of Sidney for oil and gas exploration. A letter to the Bureau of Land Management directs bidding as soon as possible, with bids and leasing expected to wrap within six months. Previous sales near the depot drew top rates, and officials note potential reservoir rock and channel developments, though no wells exist on the remaining tract.
