Authorities investigate an expansive thieving ring linked to six robberies across western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado since December 26. The Fox theatre loot of 904 dollars, two break-ins at Peetz, Gurley pool hall, Kimball Ford garage, and a Mitchell burglary are attributed to the ring. An attempted entry at Dalton Harvey Heizer store was thwarted by a police dog.

Potter Woman Badly Burned In Stove Explosion
Mrs Lloyd Shaw of Potter suffered serious burns when a kerosene stove she was refueling exploded last Thursday evening. Doctors say the burns are not fatal and she is improving at home as her husband and father in law, home at the time, rushed in to cover her with blankets.

Pioneer of Cheyenne County Dies After Illness
Anna Sukovaty, 86, a pioneer of Cheyenne County, died Monday December 30 at her daughter’s home southeast of Sunol after a year of illness. She came from Crete Nebraska with her husband, raised four children, and lived in the Bohemian community. Funeral services were held January 2 at the Tilghman home with Rev. John Hammel officiating. Interment followed in the Bohemian cemetery. Her daughter Mrs August Namath survives.

Robbers Visit Peetz Stores In Two-Burst Burglary
A safe at Ramey brothers store in Peetz was robbed Thursday night of 88 dollars. Store manager New Hewitt found the break Friday morning. Missing were a blue handkerchief dress gloves necktie 20 cartons of cigarettes five boxes of cigars and 20 two cent postage stamps. Entry came from prying basement windows and the safe lock was broken. The same night the Enterprise Lumber company office was ransacked.
