State Senator George H. Fleming of Sidney filed for reelection in the newly created 47th District covering Cheyenne Kimball and Banner counties. The four year term follows a legislative change. He bought a Gurley store in 1939 after a hint from Ernest Taylor’s mother and started as checker, meat packer, and more. The couple operated long hours and grew from 800 to 5000 items. They later moved to Gurley with their family and remodeled life around the shop.
