County Officers Change at Court House on Thursday

Six of eight county officers were reappointed or replaced on Thursday at the courthouse. Simon Fishman becomes County Treasurer succeeding W. R. Wood, with Myrtle Lancaster remaining deputy. Jack Parks takes over as County Coroner from Charlie Wright.

Funeral for C D Essig Brief. Bank Stockholders Declare Dividend

All business houses were closed from 2 to 3 for the funeral of C D Essig. The stockholders of the First National Bank met Thursday night and proclaimed the usual semi annual dividend.

County Commissioners Select Names and Approve Bonds in Cheyenne

Cheyenne County Nebraska officials met December 30 1911 to select sixty names for a district court adjourned term and approve official bonds for county officers and deputies. The session adjourned with bonds for county clerk judge appointment of a special county judge and various claims authorized for payment.

Portland Couple Welcomes Seven-Pound Son

Mrs. Jordan formerly Miss Lucy Jones gives birth to a boy in Portland Oregon on Thursday January 4 weighing seven pounds. The parents are Mr and Mrs W W Jordan and the proud grandparents are Mr and Mrs B A Jones. The Telegraph extends congratulations.

Hargis and Smith Fight a Draw at Tobin Opera House

Arthur Hargis and Tommy Smith staged a full fifteen round boxing exhibition in Sidney New Years night. The match ended in a draw with Hargis suffering a first round left hand injury but continuing bravely. Both fighters were evenly matched and cited as clean competitors.

Last Club Meeting of the Year at Mrs Corbett’s Home

The Woman's Club held its final 1911 meeting at Mrs Corbett's home on December 23. The hour was shifted to "children older grown" with tea. Red Cross Seals were introduced by Mrs Simon and the program featured talks on Our Boys and Girls and modern fiction with a vocal selection by Miss Gwendolyn Stokes.

Curtis D Essig Dies in Sidney Nebraska After Long Service

Curtis D Essig born near Canton Ohio October 18 1847 built a furniture business in Canton then moved to Sidney Nebraska in 1876. He served as County Judge and Treasurer, was a village trustee and school board member, helped found Trinity Lutheran Church, and died peacefully after a long illness. Funeral held in Sidney and burial planned in Canton Ohio.

Missing Henry Handley Found Living With Brother

Henry Handley, last seen near Dalton last July, is now reported to be living with his brother in Steele City. He claimed to have believed he killed a man the day before his disappearance. A private bath Rent One furnace heated room is advertised by Mrs. B. E. Robinson.
