Oil Activity Continues in Northwest Nebraska Drilling
The No. 27 1 Cherry well in Dawes/SWSW in 27 28 area is being drilled by Trade Winds Drilling Co. with surface casing set. In 1962 Nebraska produced over 25 million barrels valued at 71.5 million dollars, mainly from Kimball Baner Red Willow Cheyenne and Morrill counties as rigs operated in at least sixteen counties. Experts see potential in deeper Panhandle sands that could revive a longer oil boom, requiring costly drilling and record checks with results due in 1963.
