Second Bluffs Field Well Is Now Indicated
Development of a new oil field in Scotts Bluff County appears to be a success. Sinclair Oil and Gas Co ran production casing this week at a southwest offset to Sam Gary's No. 1 Whipple in an unnamed field and expects to establish commercial production. The well No. 1 McClenehan reports good saturation in the J sand. Pan American tests another well in Vowers Field with limited show but casing planned. Drilling activity in Nebraska was slow but weather conditions could accelerate work in the western state. State oil production averaged 67 610 barrels daily last week as Sam Gary’s Whipple well east of Wesl ago in Scotts Bluff County yielded 240 barrels daily from 5278 82 feet.

Tincoln winter wheat remains in good condition as snow provided moisture and protection from cold. Surface soil is dry and porous ready to absorb moisture while risk of root freezing remains. Mild weather allows cleanup of fallen grain and winter forage use for livestock gains. Feeder cattle movement and lambing begin in northern flocks with some losses reported.
