He was vacationing near Lake Atitlan west of Guatemala City. The family has tried through the State Department, Sen Carl Curtis, ham radio, Red Cross, and local contacts with little success. Army engineers are clearing a road to the lake but rock and mud slides impede access. Robert is a 1967 Ainsworth High School graduate who studied geology at UNL and served in the Army Europe program before heading to Central America. He planned to return to Texas by March 3 and resume UNL studies this fall.
