Lawmakers rejected a De Camp proposed amendment that would lift truck speed limits if fuel savings justified it. Gov Exon backed a separate amendment allowing speed limit revision if federal limits change. The current statewide norms are 75 mph interstates and 65 mph others.

Son of Sidneyites Is Colorado Recognized for Courage
Five year old Tom Skrdlant born Feb 2 1969 with a congenital heart defect received a major heart operation twelve hours after birth. His family including parents Leland and Mrs Skrdlant and Sidney relatives benefited from Colorado Health Department aid for life saving surgeries. At a 1974 luncheon Tom was named the departments handicapped child with a framed certificate praising his determination. The department noted ongoing need for funds and outlined eligibility criteria based on financial need and medical condition. Tom was among 25 children aided in the latter half of 1973 under its cardiac care program.
