Anti ballistic sites eyed for western Nebraska area
The Omaha World Herald reports that President Nixon aims to expand the ABM program expanding Minuteman protection to western Nebraska and adjoining areas in Wyoming and Colorado. About 200 Minuteman missiles are in the three state region with 150 in southern Nebraska’s Panhandle and roughly fifty in Cheyenne County. Second phase calls for Safeguard ABM around Warren AFB and Whiteman AFB with deployment in Missouri and North Dakota. If approved, substantial construction would occur in western Nebraska.

Sidney Board Considering Expansion of Continuous Education
The Sidney Board of Education is expected to favor expanding continuous education to elementary grades Kinder garten through six at Central School. If approved at the March meeting the program would extend existing policy to more subjects and students. Superintendent Pedersen said a broad public information drive will accompany any expansion to clarify continuous education and distinguish it from modular scheduling.
