The Cheyenne County Fair board sanctioned a one year trial of open class exhibits to include items beyond 4 H and extension clubs. Prizes will be ribbons with hopes others will sponsor events. The board discussed reviving the catch it call contest and possible baseball lights at the fairgrounds with private underwriters funding the project.

Sheriff Returns Forgery Suspect to Face Charges
Marvin Krauth, 19, recently released from the Arizona State Penitentiary at Florence, was brought to Sidney by Sheriff W. W. Schulz to face forgery counts. He pleaded guilty to forging two checks in Sidney using the name Henry Piak, passed at Star Market and O P Skaggs in June 1948. Krauth cannot be held until Arizona sentence ends and is also wanted in Iowa on forgery and jumping a $2,000 ad.

Jailbreakers May Be Tried This Weekend
Cheyenne County three jail breakers were arraigned and bound over to district court on 10000 bond each for breaking jail and robbery by violence. J. W. Mosley and Bill Meile pleaded guilty to both counts while Thomas Berry pleaded guilty to jail breaking and denied the other. Meile faces potential district court hearings as sheriff expects this weekend.

Robert L. Hawkins, 16, of Lorenzo, placed 12th in Gordon with 90.4 points in milling and baking.
