Union Pacific survey may cut distance Brule to Lodgepole

The Union Pacific surveyors are said to be preparing a new cut-off between Brule and Lodgepole that would shorten the line by several miles. The Julesburg Advocate notes the survey aims for a straight line regardless of towns, potentially shifting nine miles north of Julesburg and three miles north of Chappell. If constructed it would serve west bound limited trains and through freights, with a thirteen mile reduction between North Platte and Sidney.
