A group from Alliance led by Roy Abbott purchased the First State bank of Scottsbluff and assumed control. Wheat Planting Rule Mirrors Last Year Under Farm Act
Agriculture department officials say the wheat planting provisions in the new farm act match those for winter wheat last fall. The act sets a national wheat acreage limit of 65 500 000 acres covering winter and spring wheat and bases total soil conservation payments on this allotment while not changing individual acreages. Wheat will be treated with other non allocated crops for compliance tests, enabling general soil conservation payments. parity payments are contingent on congressional funding, and no marketing quotas or crop insurance are provided this year. Loans on wheat rise when farm price falls below parity, at 52 to 75 percent of parity.

The Nebraska third delinquent tax law becomes permanent in statute books as the state supreme court denies rehearing on its 1937 law. Harry A. Clarify State Law On Showing Car Lights
The attorney general ruled motorists must have lights on only when visibility drops to where a person can be seen at 500 feet ahead on state highways. Patrol Chief Weller noted a quirk requiring lights day and night, but Edwin Vail clarified daylight lights are not required unless visibility is insufficient to clearly discern a person 500 feet away.

Sheriff W. W. Schulz departed for St. Joseph Missouri to escort Charles Wilmoth alias Charles R Wilson to Cheyenne County custody. Wilmoth, sought for about four years, allegedly forged five checks totaling over 180 dollars for Earl Panabaker farmer oil dealer. One forged Panabaker check was for 42.16 dollars. He worked on Panabaker’s farm east of Dalton four years ago, with most forged checks cashed at Dalton.

The annual Cheyenne county young democrats convention will be held in the district court room at Sidney on Friday evening February 25 beginning at 8 o'clock. Firemen Net Above $200 On Annual Ball
The volunteer fire department netted more than two hundred dollars from the annual firemen's ball last Saturday night. Receipts totaled 202 dollars when banked Monday. Several other tickets remained unsettled as funds, and dance committee members praised public turnout and support.
Broadwater Man Victim After Gurley Crash Near Gurley
A collision at a six mile east of Gurley intersection involved two cars carrying high school basketball players from Gurley and Broadwater. Donald Bruner, 22, of Broadwater, died at a local hospital from severe head and jaw injuries. Seriously injured were Lloyd Busboom, 16, and Joy Handley, 15, both Gurley residents. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. as the Gurley team returned from a game. the Broadwater car was en route home from Sundl. The two vehicles sped into the ditch near a rural school building. Bruner died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday. Busboom and Handley received severe facial injuries and shock.
