West Coast Storm Turns Deadly and Destructive

In San Francisco area and across California a vast Pacific Storm caused widespread death and destruction. At least 24 people are dead with many injured and extensive property damage. California reports extreme rainfall, landslides, and flooding with towns isolated and preparations for emergency coastwise mail and rail modifications.

Jury List Chosen for Cheyenne County by County Commissioners

At the county commissioners meeting held Tuesday at the county courthouse, the following jurors were selected for the March term. The list includes multiple jurors from towns such as Bronson, Colton, Lodge Pole, Bunker Hill, Pleasant View, Davison, Potter, Huntsman, Eagle, Trognitz, Sidney No. 1, Union Valley, Chambers, Gurley, Sidney No. 2, and Sidney No. 3, with names like Lorenzo McGee, Joe HorNicek Jr, John Hornicek, George Caldwell, Harry Courtright, and many others.

North Platte Thief Ring Broken Up by Arrests

Eight North Platte men are jailed after confessions link them to hog stealing and butchering, chicken thefts, and robberies. Names include Millard Shaffer Gerald Wayman Alfred Wayman Robert Logan Al Blankeman Carl Bartlebaugh Lee Antrim and Arthur Spencer. Additional arrests are expected as more implicate others.

Sidney Drops Bayard Tilt In Quin Tet Game

Sidney high school basketball lost to Bayard 26 to 13 on Tuesday night, offering a rough showing as they travel to Chadron for the tournament. The Bayard gym gave the locals trouble, and Sidney faced an off night offensively. Final details from Chadron were not yet available as press time approached.

Telegraph publisher heads to Lincoln for editorial meeting

Guy V. Doran publisher of The Telegraph leaves on No. 4 for Lincoln to attend Nebraska Editorial association sessions Thursday through Saturday. He chairs the western Nebraska publicity committee and will help plan entertainment for the National Editorial association convention in 1927 with headquarters at Omaha.

Dawson County Farmer Dies in Hay Baiting Accident

John Williams a prominent Dawson county farmer died at Gene Young farm south of Cozad when his clothing became entangled in main gears while oiling a hay baler. His arms were torn from his body and he died within an hour at age sixty seven.

Body in Sand Hills Linked to Family Murder Confession

After 138 years silence Minnie Boyer of Kearney confesses that her husband Frank Boyer, missing since 1914, was killed by a nephew who is now dead. Henry Boyer aided in burying the body near a Garden County barn. The couple, in custody, recounts a fatal hunting night and a plan to tell neighbors the husband had pulled out.

Relic of Pioneer Days Steam Through Sidney Tour

Motorist Fined for Speeding on Highway

Dewey Dirks, a Dalton youth, was found guilty of speeding on the public highway before Judge Rabhi and fined twenty five dollars plus costs. Dirks was arrested after a crash near Dalton in which Ted Farr was seriously injured and is recovering in Dalton hospital. The defense attorney W P Miles said the case would be appealed to the District court.

Sidney Cage Team Wins at Chadron Tournament

Sidney defeated Mitchell 25 to 16 in the Chadron tournament first round, showing skill on the big floor. Harry Martin and Virginia Panabraker of Dalton wed Monday. Joseph J. Singleton and Rosa Lie Beard of Kimball married the same day. Sidney High School Band Concert at USA Theatre

The Sidney high school band will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. at the USA theatre. Admission is free and open to the public. Conductor Professor Havlovicc leads the group through Harold Bennett compositions. The band is praised as one of the finest in local schools with skilled musicians.

Dalton farmers gathered in the city to attend the trial of Dewey Dirks accused of speeding on a public highway. Dirks faces a speeding charge as proceedings unfold in court with local farmers observing the case.

County Commissioners Set Speed Law on County Roads

The Cheyenne county board met with full attendance and approved measures including posting speed limit signs and sheriff enforcement on main roads. They allocated excess county fees to Drug funds, approved purchase of a McCormick Deering tractor and a Holt maintainer, and authorized fund deposits with banks under capital limits. An Adams leaning wheel grader was approved for road maintenance while the road between sections 9 and 10 was closed due to repair costs. The next meeting is March 1 unless urgent business requires a special gathering.

Local Committee Hopes Lincoln Hearing For Cheyenne County Experiment Farm

Sidney and Cheyenne county businessmen and citizens visited Lincoln to lobby the Finance Ways and Means committee for a 25 000 state aid bill to fund a joint state and federal agricultural experiment station. Attendees from Sidney included Roy Thomas C P Chambers J L MacIntosh M W Osborn F N Slawson L E Busenbark and Dan Campbell plus J H Foster of Dalton and the outcome awaited several days. The committee reportedly showed strong interest and a favorable report was anticipated.
