Nebraska farm units totaled 69 000 in 1974, down from 70 000 in 1973, with a preliminary 1975 estimate of 68 000. Total U.S. owned farmland remains around 48 million acres, while average farm size rises to about 706 acres in 1975 from 697 in 1974 and 687 in 1973.

Gov. Exon unveils plan to unite the Nebraska Commission on Drugs and the Division on Alcoholism into a single Office of Chemical Dependency within the Department of Public Institutions. The advisory board would include 20 members, with 10 from drug fields and 10 from alcoholism, aiming for grant and planning coordination via the community mental health program. Potential director candidates include Jeff Kushner, current drug commission chief.
The Nebraska Panhandle Community Action Agency will use a Community Services Administration grant to fund Project Winterization. About 45 homes will receive insulation materials weather stripping caulking storm doors and plastic storm windows with participant labor and small material loans or grants.
