Fleming Gerdes Bill Next Sales Tax To Be Acted On
A three per cent sales tax bill by George H. Fleming and George Gerdes faces action in the Nebraska Legislature after committee defeat of similar measures. Senator Terry Carpenter, Scottsbluff, supported reviving it on the floor, while Governor Morrison led opposition witnesses. Vandals mutilate local car at Enco Truck Stop
A 1959 Ford Thunderbird owned by Clarence Kain suffered about 500 in damage after a vehicle vandalism early Sunday. The car was parked at the east side of the Enco Truck Stop while Kain and a coworker were in a nearby cafe. The attack damaged headlights windshield and windows and ripped upholstery.

Bell System announces daytime interstate station to station calls in the continental United States will drop to $2 or less for three minutes starting April 1. Plans and specifications for a 12 unit two story apartment building were released by Carl Christ Sr. The air conditioned complex with eight two bedroom and four one bedroom units would feature wall to wall carpeting, intercom access, automatic entry, and individual heat controls. Cost: over 150000 dollars. Rentals set at 160 dollars for two bedrooms and 135 dollars for one bedroom. Construction could start in a few weeks with a four month build time. The project faces north on Jackson Street at 17th Avenue.
