Leland Graves 22, of Aneotnia New York, was discharged from the Air Force in Cheyenne after four years. He packed his wife and a newly purchased 1955 house trailer and headed for New York. West of Sidney on US 30 at 9 05 p m a car crossed the path of his eastbound car. Graves swerved, hit brakes, and the trailer broke loose, tipping on its side. Nebraska Safety Patrol estimated $650 in damages to the trailer and its contents.

Lincoln AP reports Nebraska's January 1 headcount reached 5,016,000 cattle, the highest total ever. Milk cows numbered 442,000, down this century, while hog numbers rose 14 percent to 2,453,999, the peak since 1952. Sheep stood at 778,000, with 278,000 stock sheep, largest since 1945.
