Sunday Petition Deadline For City Council Candidates
Petitions for city council candidates must be filed with City Clerk Gordon Tobin by midnight Sunday February 16. Tobin notes petitions may be accepted on Sunday but not Monday, and says an extra day is not valid here. Eight petitions exist, two of which for J L Thorpe and C J Dorwart seek four year terms. Four council seats contest two and four year terms. remaining six petitions come from Aufdengarten Hossle Cornelius Fish Preble and Jones. If four or fewer are nominated for each term no primary is held, races decided at the April general election. a police judge and two school board seats also up for spring election with retiring members Edwards and Goodwin for six year terms.

Two Pay Phones Mutilated in Vandalism Case
Two pay telephones were found damaged at the Sheriff W W Schulz office as detectives examined clues for suspects. One phone was in a booth on East Illinois street in Sidney and the other in front of the telephone company office at Lodgepole. Vandals ripped the units and coin boxes, taking a small amount of cash from each after emptying the boxes days earlier. Total damage estimated at $300.

Deadline Near On Farmer Tax
Lincoln Nebraska farmers are reminded that February 17 is the last day for filing Federal Income Tax returns Form 1040 for the calendar year 1963 without penalty. Exceptions include prior filing of an estimated tax declaration by January 15 with a due date of April 15, or for fiscal year filers, the due date is the 15th day of the second month after the close of the fiscal year or the 15th day of the fourth month if a tax estimate is filed.

Frontier Airlines denied teachers fare petition
